Friday Fun Pt 2: What’s For Dinner? Chocolate Slow Cooker Cake + Chicken Pot Pie

I confess:  we’ve been in a funk the past couple of weeks, but I think this Chocolate Slow Cooker Cake equals redemption! So let’s start Dinner with Dessert. Here comes definitely decadent chocolate cake you can toss in the pot and forget about–well, almost–until you’re ready to serve.

Chocolate Slow Cooker Cake

Definitely Delicious Chocolate Slow Cooker Cake

Ingredients:

1 Package Chocolate Cake mix
1 Package instant chocolate pudding mix
1 Cup chocolate morsels (semisweet)
1 8 ounce container of sour cream
3/4 Cup butter (1 + 1/4 sticks)
1 cup water
4 eggs
For the full directions,Click Here.

Last, but certainly not least, ta-Duh: Chicken pot pie! Ok, so in most cases, no matter how hard mom tries, chicken pot pie falls woefully short of a ta-duh moment but there is real gold here, a homemade crust .

Chicken Pot Pie

I can’t show a picture here, but this is what you’ll need for the crust:

16 tbsp. cold unsalted butter
3 cups all-purpose flour
10 oz. cream cheese, chilled
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
1 large egg

In fairness,  there are several steps to this dish.  Don’t let that scare you away.  These pies can be made ahead and frozen.  PLUS: definitely TKOs the how-fast-can -I-get-this-off-my-plate- when- mom’s-not-looking?-factor ever-present with chicken pot pie.  (Sorry, mom! )  Head to Annie’s Eats for the full recipe which does include pics.
