Friday Fun Pt 1: Make Your Own Greek Yogurt/Sour Cream

As seen at

Okay, first off, I’m gonna need to reseach this one further, but this week I came across a recipe for Greek Yogurt/Sour Cream.  First off, let me thank Monica  So if you’re out of Chilbani or just craving a luscious treat that buries storebought, here goes:

Recipe Greek Yogurt

1 carton plain yogurt

(I recommend full fat. You don’t have to use that, but in terms of richness and flavor, you won’t do better. And Sour Cream/Greek Yogurt is what we’re after.)

What You’ll Need:

  • A Metal Strainer
  • Several Layers of Cheesecloth or Paper Towel
  • a Rubber Spatula

What You’ll Do:

Strain, strain, strain! The amount of time you strain makes the difference in what you have. The longer you strain, the thicker your cream is. 3 or 4 hours will give you greek yogurt, a full 8 will give you sour cream cheese.
